Histon 3-4 Oxford United

A James Constable brace inspired Oxford United to a 4-3 win over Histon in a seven-goal thriller at Glassworld Stadium on Saturday.

Oxford dominated early on and they deservedly took the lead when Matthew Green chipped Danny Naisbitt after Jack Midson had headed the ball onto him.

However, the Stutes were able to get back on level terms just after the break when Jamie Barker headed home much to the delight of Histon boss Steve Fallon.

But the home side's joy was short lived as Simon Clist drilled a volley past Histon goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt from 25 yards out with a wonder strike.

Disaster struck for Histon when Danny Naisbitt was dismissed for a foul on Green in the 65th minutes.

Chris Wilder's charges then took full advantage of the extra man as Constable scored his first goal of the game in the 73rd minute to give the visitors a two goal cushion with a left-footed volley from 20 yards out to again leave Nasbitt with no chance.

The hitman then netted his second from close-range after Matt Green put in a a low cross after some excellent work down the right to take the score to 4-1.

Two goals in the last 10 minutes by Matthew Langston and Josh Simpson gave the home fans something to shout about, but the Yellows held on for the win.
