Oxford United

Kettering v Oxford United

Mark Cooper's Kettering will be looking to continue their good start to the season when they welcome Oxford United to Rockingham Road on Tuesday night.

The Poppies got off to a winning start in the league with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Forest Green on Saturday. Jean-Paul Marna scored a brace but it looks as if that still won't be enough to warrant him a place in the starting line-up.

New signing Patrick Noubissie will hope to gain his work permit in time for the second league encounter after missing out the opening day fixture.

Chris Wilder's Oxford will be in equally good spirits after they too recorded a victory on Saturday. They overcame York 2-1 and Wilder is hoping to continue their winning ways despite potentially having to deal with a few more injuries than he anticipated.

"We have a couple of little knocks. James Constable took a smack in the back on Saturday, I think everyone in the ground saw that, but he is a big boy and puts up with it fantastically well and hopefully he will be OK," he told Oxfords' official website.

"There were a couple of other little niggles but fingers crossed everyone should be OK, and those who were possible doubts like Matt Green and Rhys Day came through and are available," he continued.

The 42-year-old went on to voice his admiration for his upcoming opponents and is urging his side to not underestimate the Northamptonshire-based side.

"Kettering shouldn't have gone down in the first place but the manager got them back up with a very strong squad and they have some very talented players. Kettering are one of the teams that go under the radar sometimes. But their cup exploits don't lie, their clean sheets don't lie, and it will be a very tough game for us," he concluded
