Chris Wilder's Oxford United begin their Blue Square Premier campaign at The Kassam Stadium against York City this Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
Wilder's men will be led by Adam Murray and all indications suggest that Alfie Potter, Marcus Kelley and Alex Rhodes will line-up alongside him in the middle of the pitch. Potter will be handed his debut along with fellow new signings Mark Creighton and Jack Midson.
The goalkeeping position is the area of interest as both Billy Turley and Ryan Clarke compete for the coveted position. Both have put in sterling performances in Oxford's pre-season exploits and it will be with much interest that fans will await Chris Wilder's final team decisions.
York are in the fortunate position of having a fully fit squad at their disposal. Martin Foyle's men finished 17th in last season's campaign and will be looking to make a positive start against the league's second favourites.
The quartet who were arrested earlier this week have been picked and are available for selection, allowing Michael Gash to be given his competitive debut for the Minstermen.
While Foyle is realistic about his side's chances for Saturday's clash, he plans on his squad to give a good account of themselves and not be overwhelmed by their opponents.
"We were a bit of a soft touch in the last three or four pre-season games and their strength will certainly be useful with four of our first six games away from home and then matches against Histon and Crawley.
"It's probably our second-hardest or hardest away game of the season. They've got strength at the back and good striking power with James Constable, Jack Midson and Matt Green, but I don't want to talk about them too much.
"If we are up for it, it will be a close match and I'm looking for plenty of shots on goal. All the expectation is on them and, for me, we go there with absolutely nothing to lose," he told The Press newspaper.
