Histon 2 Mansfield Town 3

Louis Briscoe scored a second-half hat-trick as Mansfield defeated 10-man Histon at Bridge Road on Tuesday.

Briscoe had already missed a first-half penalty, after 14 minutes, that followed a deliberate hand-ball by Erkan Okay, who was subsequently sent-off.

But despite being a man down, the Stutes took a two-nil lead into the second half after goals from Omer Riza and Jimmy Stevenson.

Riza netted a 41st minute penalty after Kevin Sandwith was adjudged to have fouled Lewis Taaffe in the box while Stevenson smashed home on the stroke of half-time.

But it was all Mansfield and more specifically Briscoe after the break as he made up for his first-half miss by claming all three points for his side.

Briscoe netted his first on 49 minutes as he let rip from the edge of the 18-area before finding an equaliser and a winner with two similarly impressive strikes in the 68th and 80th minutes.

The result saw Mansfield move onto 49 points from 34 games, in 12th position, while Histon remain stuck at the bottom of the table, on 27 from 37.
