Southport 3-1 Histon

Southport made easy work of bottom-of-the-league Histon with a comprehensive 3-1 victory at Haig Avenue on Tuesday night.

The topsy-turvy first half saw no goals but two yellow cards for Southport with Aaron Turner and Kevin Lee being booked for unsporting behaviour and a straight red for Histon's Zach Attwood in the 40th minute for violent conduct.

Southport came out firing in the second half when Shaun Whalley found the net one minute into play with a well-taken shot from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner.

Not to be outdone Karl Larsman found the net five minutes later when he struck from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.

Both teams were guilty of giving away to many free kicks, but Southport finally scored their third of the match when Tony Gray scored from a Paul Barrat cross.

The Stutes eventually got something of a consolation when Omer Riza scored a penalty thanks to an Aaron Turner Foul.

The result leaves Histon in the drop zone in 23rd position and Stockport in 18th.
