Histon 0-3 Kettering

Kettering secured their first win of the season with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Histon at Bridge Road on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors cruised home thanks to goals by Jean Paul Marna (pen 4), Serge Makofo (54) and Marcus Kelly (87) - lifting them to 15th on the Blue Square Bet Premier table, while the Stutes linger uneasily in the drop zone.

The match ignited early when Erkan Okay felled Makofo in the Histon box, prompting referee John Hopkins to award a penalty. Marna duly converted to give the Poppies the ideal start.

Lee Harpur's men took their narrow lead into the break and were among the goals again when Moses Ashikodi played in Makofo, with the striker firing past goalkeeper Joe Welch from inside the area.

David Livermore's charges could find no way back and were further humbled when Kelly's 20-yard strike rattled the net with three minutes remaining.

Histon bookings: None.
