Alfreton Town

Reds chasing down two signatures

Alfreton Town are closing in on the capture of two players to boost their playing squad, according to assistant manager Russ O'Neill.

The midfield will be of particular concern to manager Nicky Law after watching Mansfield loanee Steve Istead return to Field Mill after playing just two games.

The cold snap in England has affected all levels of football and with the probability of a flurry of games in the next couple of weeks, the Reds are looking to shore up their options.

O'Neill told Non League Daily: "We are close to bringing in a midfield player from a rival Blue Square North club and we have also put in seven days' notice of approach for a left-sided player.

"If we can land this additional target as well, it will increase our options greatly as the lad we are after can also play up front as well as wide left."
