Law reveals Istead loan frustration

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has revealed his frustration that on-loan Mansfield midfielder Steve Istead will return to Field Mill after playing just two games.

The cold snap in England has affected matches all across the country, and following postponements to the Reds' fixture list, Istead's month-long loan spell saw him feature only twice.

Istead is now scheduled to join Blue Square Premier outfit Chester City for the remainder of the season, ruling out any possibility of Law extending his spell at the Impact Arena.

"It is not Steve's fault. He came here for a month and he has only played two league games for us. We were not to know what was going to happen with the weather," Law told Non League Daily.

"It is difficult to get anybody in at the minute because there are no games going on and it is all extra cost, but I want us to be in as strong a shape as possible for when the season does restart and we are still looking.

"If the Southport game is on, it will have been like a mini break for us. We have everyone back off injury and everyone is refreshed and raring to go. There is a lot of mileage left in this season, when it starts again."
