Southport v Fleetwood Town

Liam Watson's Southport will be targeting their third win of the new campaign when newcomers Fleetwood Town visit Haig Avenue on Saturday afternoon.

Watson expects to have Chris Lever to be available for selection after he recovered from a shoulder injury suffered on Tuesday night.

Paul Linwood missed Tuesday's clash due to suspension, while Simon Grand was ill and Nathan Pond was injured.

Looking ahead to Saturday's clash, Watson told the Southport Visister: "They did remarkably well to dust themselves down and win the play-offs, you have to give them credit for that.

"We haven't really changed over the summer, just brought in a couple of strikers, but they've put a lot of money in.

"And they've had a right good go this season, they've brought in some big names and they've started really well, so good luck to them.

"I'm sure I'll get a lot of stick from their fans, but that's fine by me because if they're giving me stick it means they're leaving someone else alone.

"It will be a tough game, but it will be tough for them as well."

Fleetwood boss Micky Mellon is boosted by the return of Paul Linwood following a suspension.

Alan Wright, Jamie Mullan, Simon Grand, Nathan Pond, Junior Brown and Steve Connors were all absent in midweek due to injury and they could miss out once again.

Mellon told Fleetwood Today: "I have 22 players at the club, and I have told them all that they are first team players and that was brought home by the way we performed at Gateshead.

"In fact, I would struggle to name what my best 11 would be.

"It was a hard job with all the injuries, but I couldn't have asked for more from them."
