Newly-promoted Southport picked up their first points of the campaign after edging out Kidderminster Harriers in a seven-goal thriller at Aggborough on Tuesday.
The Harriers got off to a flying start as Michael Briscoe found the back of the net with a well struck volley from 20 yards in the fifth minute.
Southport drew level in the 35th minute when some poor defending allowed Matty McNeil to latch onto a throw in before firing an angled volley into the top right corner of the goal.
And Southport claimed the lead shortly after the half-time break when McNeil converted a flicked header from Chris Lever with a header of his own.
Kidderminster clawed their way back into contention in the 57th minute thanks to a spectacular goal from Nick Wright but Matty McGinn popped up in the 74th minute to restore Southport's slender lead.
And the hosts saw their chances of getting result from this game diminish further when Southport were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute.
Michael Briscoe was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area and McGinn slotted home the resulting penalty to make it 4-2.
Marc Williams bagged a debut goal in the 86th minute to give Harriers a lifeline but Southport survived a late push from the Harriers to claim the spoils.
