Richard Brodie
Bottom-of-the-pile Grays Athletic hit an injury-time equaliser to steal a point against promotion hopefuls York, despite being reduced to ten men for much of the game.
Gray's lost goalkeeper Glyn Garner as early as the 22nd minute to a red card after the gloveman had brought down Richard Brodie in the area. But the resultant Brodie penalty was saved by substitute 'keeper Preston Edwards and the scoreline remained deadlocked going into the half-time break.
The home side had however taken the initiative and it was only a matter of time until they went ahead. Six minutes after the break Brodie got his goal as the City hit-man collected a long ball before easily slotting past Edwards. It was Brodie's 33rd goal of a prodigious season.
York then had a number of opportunities to put the game beyond doubt, with their failure to do so coming back to haunt them in the face of a spirited Gray's performance.
An uneffective Michael Ingham punch in the first minute of injury time was punished by Gray's Duran Reynolds, who fired his shot through a bunch of players and into the open net to shock the home side.
The Minstermen now find themselves in fifth with a final day trip to newly crowned champions Stevenage.
York bookings: Lawless.
Grays bookings: None.
