A second-half strike from Tom Shaw helped Cambridge United to a 2-1 victory over AFC Telford at New Bucks Head on Saturday.
Having beaten the Bucks 4-1 in an FA Trophy clash last weekend, Jez George's men were looking to make it two from two and make up ground lost from a defeat to Grimsby a fortnight ago.
After a bright start from the home side, Luke Perry looked to have opened the scoring when he found the net after a cross from Harrison Dunk, but he was adjudged to have committed a foul in the process of scoring.
While Telford had the odd chance in the first 45 minutes, it was the U's who were dominant for the most part and were eventually able to break the deadlock in first half stoppage time.
The goal was set up in controversial circumstances with 'keeper Ryan Young adjudged to have carried the ball out of play after the linesman had first signalled a goal kick only to change his mind and award a corner.
From the corner, Kevin Roberts at the back post latched onto Rossi Jarvis' delivery to put the visitors in front.
Telford responded well after the break and got back on level terms in the 53rd minute through Chris Sharp. The striker latched on to a Will Salmon cross to volley home from 12 yards out.
The home side's joy was short lived though, with Tom Shaw putting the U's back in front just two minutes later. The 25-year-old turned well inside the penalty early and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that left Young with no chance.
While Telford fought valiantly to get back on level terms they were unable to do so and it was Cambridge who took the three points.
