The Northern Echo Arena

Darlington v Cambridge Utd

Darlington caretaker boss Craig Liddle will be targeting a return to winning ways when high-flying Cambridge United visit the Northern Echo Arena.

The Quakers have slipped into the bottom half of the league standings after recording two consecutive goalless draws, while the U's occupy fifth place following a 0-0 draw at Ebbsfleet in midweek.

Liddle is boosted by the return of three players from injury ahead of Saturday's crucial clash.

Right-back Paul Arnison is expected to return to the starting line-up after serving a suspension, while Jamie Chandler is available for selection after recovering from an ankle injury.

Striker Liam Hatch has recovered from a bout of illness and his inclusion should lead to a return to defensive duties for Graeme Lee.

However, forward Ryan Bowman will miss out again as he struggles to overcome an ankle problem.

Cambridge manager Jez George will make a number of changes to his side for Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier encounter.

Striker Ryan Charles will miss out with a knee injury, meaning Michael Gash will deputise in his absence.

Defender Rory McAuley is on the treatment table with a knee injury, while Rossi Jarvis and Ashley Carew are both pushing for a starting berth.

Darlington were recently hit with a transfer embargo, but George feels the latest developments at the Northern Echo Arena will not have a negative effect on their players' mindset.

He told Cambridge News: "The transfer embargo will only bite later in the season, because my guess is if people leave the club in January and become free agents, as is their right to serve notice, only then will it become a problem of bringing in replacements.

"Players are quite resilient characters and they're able to put things out of their minds.

"They'll put their shirts on and make it difficult for us, so we need to be more concerned about performing to the level we're capable of doing and, hopefully, that will bring us the right result."
