Tamworth 1-1 Cambridge Utd

Daniel Bradley scored a late equaliser as Tamworth denied Cambridge United their first win of the season on Tuesday night.

Danny Wright broke the deadlock shortly after the half-time interval, but with eight minutes remaining in the tie, Bradley secured a point for the hosts.

Kyle Perry should have put Tamworth in front early on, but his close-range header was well saved by U's gloveman Simon Brown.

The stopper also thwarted Danny Thomas and Bradley as the home side enjoyed more of the possession in the opening stages of the game.

Wright was superbly contained by the Lambs' central defenders, but before the break, he managed to wrestle free only for home keeper Ross Atkins to make a sharp save.

United were better at the start of the second half. Adam Miller headed over the bar from close range, but Wright made no such mistake on the 54-minute mark.

He rose the highest to head home from six yards after meeting Simon Russell's excellent cross from the left.

And it seemed as though that effort was going to be enough to hand Cambridge their first three-pointer of the new Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.

But Bradley had other ideas by finishing off a quick counter attack and beating Josh Coulson to fire home the equaliser.

Tamworth bookings: Tait, Wylde.

Cambridge Utd bookings: Carden, Wright, Partridge, Clare.
