Newport boss Dean Holdsworth
Newport County earned their first point in 21 years at Conference Level after drawing 1-1 with Tamworth at Newport Stadium on Tuesday night.
Defender Michael Wylde netted an early opener for the visitors but a second-half penalty by Craig Reid balanced the scoreline.
The contest ignited when the towering Wylde glanced home a cross from Danny Thomas barely three minutes in.
The Lambs took their lead into the break but were knocked back in the 70th minute when Sam Foley was brought down by Richard Tait in the box. Referee John Busby pointed to the spot and Reid did the rest for the Blue Square Bet Premier newcomers.
Tamworth then nearly snuck the points at the death but Newport goalkeeper Glyn Thompson pulled off a smart save to deny Alex Rodman.
The result leaves Newport fourth from bottom, while Tamworth are fourth at the other end of the table.
Newport bookings: Warren, Rogers.
Tamworth bookings: Thomas.
Att: 2,217.
Ref: John Busby (Oxfordshire).
