Alfreton edged away from the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation zone with 1-0 win over Lincoln City on Sunday.
Jake Moult netted the only goal of the game to secure the three points that moved the Reds above Lincoln onto 35 points in 17th place.
Lincoln remain on the fringes of the drop zone with 33 points in 19th place - just three points above Hayes and Yeading United in 21st.
The hosts started the brighter of the two sides with Town keeper Jon Stewart forced into action early on.
He did well to deny Tyrone Thompson and Jefferson Louis.
Richard Pacquette could only manage to skew his shot wide before Stewart kept out a Peter Bore volley.
And it was the visitors who took the lead on the stroke of half time as Jake Moult struck home with a powerful drive.
Joe Anyon tipped a powerful Moult effort over the bar at the start of the second period before Lincoln's best chance of the game.
Substitute Mark McCammon got his head to a Louis cross but Stewart somehow managed to keep out his looping header.
The result saw Alfreton record just their third away win of the season.
