Mansfield v Cambridge Utd

Mansfield Town prepare for the visit of Martin Ling's Cambridge United to Field Mill on Saturday as they look to bounce back to winning ways.

The Stags were held to a 1-1 draw by Kettering in midweek, while Cambridge also played to a 1-1 stalemate with Tamworth at the Lamb Ground.

Paul Stonehouse is expected to miss out on Saturday's clash but could be fit for Monday's encounter against Altrincham at Moss Lane.

Matt Somner is expected to miss out again through illness, while Mark Preece has recently returned to training and is likely to sit out Saturday's clash.

"Cambridge will be a top six side," Mansfield boss David Holdsworth told the Mansfield Chad.

"They have gone out and had a go in the transfer market and brought in players like Conal Platt, who is someone I admire.

"But my wingers are playing very well right now."

Cambridge United striker Daryl Clare is poised to make his first start for the U's on Saturday.

James Jennings returns to contention after recovering from a knee problem, while Danny Naisbitt faces a late test after missing Thursday's training session with sickness and diarrhoea.

"Mansfield have had a half-decent start, but it's about being patient and believing what we're doing is right," Ling told Cambridge News.

"They'll be looking to play rather than frustrate us, and I think that could work in our favour as we can open them up on the counter-attack."
