Liam Hatch
Luton Town continued their Blue Square Premier play-off charge on Saturday after beating Hayes & Yeading 3-1 at Church Road.
The visiting Hatters got on the front foot early on, dominating the opening proceedings and got the reward for their positive approach when Liam Hatch opened the scoring with his head on 23 minutes.
Claude Gnakpa doubled the promotion condenders' advantage six minutes later when he converted a penalty, which he won himself thanks to a foul by Matt Ruby in the area.
The home side tried to make a fight of it and pulled one back in the 58th minute through Justin Cochrane, who sent a brilliant long-range strike into the back of the net.
But Luton subsititute Tom Craddock put the game out of Hayes' reach when he made it 1-3 with a close-range deflected finish. But that wasn't the end of the action.
United skipper Tom Cadmore scored from a corner in the 88th minute to set up a nervy last few minutes for the Hatters, who needed their goalkeeper Mark Tyler to save a point-blank effort from Craig Watkins at the death.
