Fleetwood 2-2 Tamworth

Fleetwood Town endured a frustrating afternoon at Highbury Stadium on Saturday as 10-man Tamworth held the league leaders to a 2-2 stalemate.

The hosts made a perfect start to the encounter as Andy Mangan converted a cross from Jamie Vardy with a well-struck effort from inside the area.

And they were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute when Sam Oji brought down Vardy in the area. However, the resulting spot kick from Magno Vieira was saved by Tamworth goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge and Mangan somehow missed the target with the follow-up.

Fleetwood were made to rue that missed chance as the Lambs clawed their way back on even terms in the ninth minute when Kyle Patterson fired into the bottom left corner from close range.

Tamworth went on to claim the lead in the 40th minute when Scott Barrow fired into the bottom right corner with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Vardy was causing the visitors all sorts of problems and he finally got himself on the scoresheet in the 55th minute when he converted a pass from Mangan with a shot from inside the area.

Things were looking bleak for the Lambs on 65 minutes when Oji picked up a second yellow card for a foul on Richard Brodie and subsequently received his marching orders.

However, the dismissal served only to galvanise the visitors who held firm in the final half-hour to keep the scoreline unchanged and earn a valuable point.

Fleetwood bookings: Cavanagh.

Tamworth bookings: Oji, Marna.
