Gareth Seddon
On a sunny Bank Holiday Monday at Highbury Stadium Fleetwood Town continued their encouraging start to the season with a 2-1 win over York City.
Gareth Seddon was given his first start of the season by Fleetwood boss Micky Mellon and he repaid his manager's faith almost immediately with a superb headed goal after just six minutes. Seddon rose high to nod home a Shaun Beeley cross for his first goal of the season.
The Fishermen continued to have the better of the game but only found their second with seven minutes left to play. Magno Vieira continued his rich goal-scoring run a great solo dash before clipping over an advancing York City keeper.
It was Vieira's fifth of the season and proved vital as York pulled a goal back shortly afterwards by way of a Greg Young header. It was, however, too late for the Minstermen, last year's play-off finalists slipping to 16th in the table.
Fleetwood Town bookings: McGuire, Connors.
York bookings: Parslow.
