Southport 1-0 Fleetwood

Southport extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a tightly fought 1-0 victory over neighbours Fleetwood Town.

The home side went ahead at Haig Avenue in the 31st minute when a Matty McGinn throw-in found Earl Davis who buried a powerful header into the back of the net.

The Fishermen had a great opportunity to equalise but Paul Linwood could only manage a tame effort which failed to trouble Tony McMillan in the Yellow's goal.

League top-scorer Magno Vieira was also unable to make any impression for Fleetwood - his best effort being a 25-yard shot which went well wide, as Liam Watson's men held on for their third win of the season.

Southport bookings: Davis, McGinn.

Fleetwood bookings: Thorpe, Cavanagh, Beeley, Connors, McNulty.
