Saturday's Blue Square North Preview

Micky Mellon's Fleetwood Town will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Blue Square North standings when they visit Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday afternoon.

Alfreton Town will be aiming to strengthen their position in the play-off zone when 15th-placed Farsley Celtic make the trip to the Impact Arena.

The Reds are currently on an eight-match unbeaten run, while Farsley will be in good spirits after halting a three-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night.

Play-off hopefuls Droylsden prepare for the visit of rock-bottom Vauxhall Motors to the Butcher's Arms and will undoubtedly be targeting another three-point haul.

The Bloods find themselves sitting in fifth place with 45 points from 26 fixtures, while the Motors prop up the foot of the table with 20 points from 29 games.

Paul Cox's Eastwood Town will be looking to keep the pressure on the play-off places when eighth-placed Corby Town visit Coronation Park.

The Badgers are on equal points with Droylsden but have played two more games than the Bloods.

Meanwhile, Corby will be itching to get back on the pitch after their midweek fixture against Blyth Spartans was abandoned due to heavy fog.

The referee made the decision to abandon the game at half time with Corby leading 2-0 thanks to a Leon Mettam brace.

Gainsborough Trinity can expect a stern examination of their Blue Square North credentials when league leaders Fleetwood Town visit the Northolme.

Trinity find themselves in the relegation mire with 20 points from 26 fixtures and lost their last league fixture 2-0 to fellow strugglers Harrogate Town.

Micky Mellon's side have played more games than anyone else in the division but hold a six-point cushion on second-placed Southport, who have two games in hand.

Strugglers Gloucester City entertain play-off chasing Stalybridge Celtic at the Corinium Stadium, while relegation-threatened Harrogate Town take on Rob Smith's AFC Telford at Wetherby Road.

The Bucks are currently hovering just below the play-off zone with 42 points from 28 fixtures but have registered two defeats and no goals from their two previous visits to Wetherby Road.

High-flying Hinckley Utd take on mid-table Blyth Spartans at Marston's Stadium as they look to consolidate their position in the play-off zone.

The Knitters sit in third place with 49 points from 29 games and will be keen to bounce back from a surprise 3-0 defeat to Solihull Moors.

14th-placed Northwich Victoria prepare for the visit of play-off hopefuls Ilkeston Town, while Redditch United play host to fellow strugglers Solihull Moors at the Valley stadium.

Chris Brindley's Stafford Rangers will be targeting a three-point haul when strugglers Hyde United visit Marston Road.

The Rangers currently find themselves sitting in 13th place with 32 points from 29 fixtures, while Hyde hover just above the dreaded drop zone with 26 points from 24 games.
