Tuesday's Blue Square North Preview

Alfreton Town face a potentially tricky encounter as they attempt to get back to winning ways in the Blue Square North on Tuesday.

The Reds got their season off to the perfect start with two convincing wins before being pegged back by Vauxhall Motors on Saturday and now face Eastwood Town at Coronation Park. The Badgers share the same number of points as their visitors after also recording one draw and two wins.

Alfreton boss Nicky Law looks set to keep faith with the players that performed so well in the opening two weeks while Eastwood boss Paul Cox has to make do without Ian Denkin, who will be out for a number of weeks after picking up a back injury.

Tom Cahill will be looking to add to the two goals he scored on his debut for Fleetwood Town when his new side travel to Vauxhall Motors this Blue Square Tuesday.

The Fishermen have only dropped two points from their opening three games, against Hyde United, on Tuesday but followed that up with an impressive win over AFC Telford, who made it to the play-off final last season, before being defeated by Gateshead.

Vauxhall will be buoyed by their 2-2 draw with Alfreton on the weekend, however with manager Carl Macauley now hoping to find some consistency in his side's play.

Southport welcome Stalybridge Celtic to Haig Avenue on the back of a shock defeat to newly-promoted Ilkeston Town.

Both sides have promotion aspirations this season but with Celtic stuttering so far this term, with just three points from three games, the Sandgrounders will be expecting to claim all three points.

Southport beat Celtic three times last season and with Ciaran Kilheeney in fine goal scoring form, topping the Goal Scorers chart with his three goals, he will no doubt be a handful for Celtic, who have already conceded seven goals.

Richard Battersby and Steve Woods will both be assessed by the Celtic medical staff ahead of Tuesday's match after suffering knocks on Saturday.

AFC Telford boss Rob Smith blasted his side's poor finishing as they slumped to their first loss of the new Blue Square North season against Fleetwood Town on Saturday and has called for his side to be more clinical.

The Bucks' next test is against Hinckley United, who have won just one of their league matches this season, succumbing to a late challenge against Hyde on the weekend to lose the match 2-1.

Tuesday's Blue Square North Fixtures:

AFC Telford v Hinckley Utd

Eastwood Town v Alfreton Town

Farsley Celtic v Blyth Spartans

Redditch v Stafford Rangers
