Southport were crowned Blue Square North Champions on the final day of the 2009/2010 season as they defeated Eastwood Town 3-0 away from home.

Second-placed Fleetwood Town needed to win and rely on the Sandgrounders slipping up as they maintained their hopes of leapfrogging the league leaders - but it wasn't to be and Liam Watson's men took the title by just one point.

Matty McGinn got Southport off to a perfect start when he scored after just eight first-half minutes with Chris Simm adding a second five minutes after the restart. Chris Lever sent the travelling fans into delirium with a killer third after 70 minutes.

To be fair, Eastwood had nothing to play for and ended the season in 10th place, some 10 points off the play-off places.

The Fishermen were assured of a second-placed finish before kick-off and despite missing out on first place, they ended the season on a high with a 2-0 win over Stalybridge Celtic, who ended their season in ninth place.

A double from Sean Clancy after 57 and 78 minutes secured the points for the home side.

Third-placed Alfreton Town and fourth-placed Workington were guaranteed a play-off place but Droylsden will be delighted to have gatecrashed the play-off party with their fantastic 6-1 demolition of lowly Redditch.

Their win displaced Corby Town, who ended their season with a 4-2 win over Blyth Spartans on Wednesday.

The Bloods needed to win and they ensured they did so in emphatic style with Tony Gray scoring no less than four with his first coming from the penalty spot after 34 minutes.

Dan Carter offered an immediate response as he scored just three minutes later but it was one-way traffic from thereafter.

Gray added his second less than two minutes later and he again made no mistake from the spot on the stroke of half time. Alex Meechan weighed in with an effort of his own on 58 minutes and Gray finished off his scoring on the hour mark with Paul Smith rounding off the performance with seven minutes of the match remaining.

Alfreton Town should be applauded with their spirited performance as they defeated fellow play-off chasers Hinckley Utd, who ended the season in seventh, just two points off Droylsden. A win for the Knitters would have seen them claim the last play-off place.

As it was, Adam Webster's ninth-minute opener was cancelled out by Liam Hearn's 23rd minute strike. Ian Ross then put his side in the lead after 40 minutes with Hearn adding a second on 45 minutes.

Daniel Dillon started the fight-back with his 65th minute goal but the Reds held on for all three points.

Workington were held to a 1-1 draw by Stafford Rangers, who ended the season in 16th spot.

Nick Wellecome opened the scoring on 28 minutes with Jonny Wright earning his side an equaliser after 61 minutes.

Amari Morgan-Smith scored the only goal after 69 minutes as Ilkeston Town defeated Gloucester 1-0. The Reds were always going to finish in eighth while The Tigers could have moved up to 15th with a win, however they had to settle for 18th spot.

Relegated Vauxhall Motors gave their home fans one last victory in the Blue Square North as they defeated AFC Telford 3-1. Jon Adams had opened the scoring for the Bucks with 26 minutes played but Brian Moogan's 49th goal and a double from Paul Brown after 52 minutes and 88 minutes saw all three points stay at the Motassist Arena. Telford had to settle for an 11th-place finish.

The other relegated side, Harrogate Town, also gave their fans something to smile about with a 2-1 win over mid-table Northwich Victoria, who ended in 12th place.

Dave Syers was delighted with his ninth minute goal and responded to Mike O'Connor's 27th minute equaliser by netting the winner on 56 minutes.

Gainsborough moved a couple of places up the table on the final day with a 2-0 victory over 13th-placed Blyth Spartans.

James Hunt broke the deadlock after 32 minutes with Luke Beckett securing the points after 58 minutes.

In the final match of the afternoon, Hyde and Solihull Moors drew 1-1. Nathan Arnold scored first for the Tigers after 39 minutes with Dean Lee ensuring a share of the spoils with his 67th minute effort.

Hyde ended their campaign in 15th place with the Moors taking 17th spot.
