Saturday's Blue Square North Wrap

League leaders Fleetwood Town fell to a shock home defeat to Northwich Victoria in Saturday's Blue Square North action.

Micky Mellon's men fell behind at Highbury a minute before the interval when Mark Danks scored for the visitors. The Vics doubled their lead through Brian Dutton in the 69th minute and they secured a maximum points haul nine minutes thereafter when Lee Elam bagged a third goal.

But the Fleet's lead at the top of the standings remains substantial as second-placed Southport could only manage a draw against Corby Town at Rockingham Triangle. The hosts broke the deadlock after just two minutes through Phil Gulliver while Ciaran Kilheeney secured the Sandgrounders a point with his finish in the 21st minute.

Gainsborough's battle against relegation suffered a setback at Bower Fold as they were on the wrong side of a five-goal thriller against Stalybridge. The hosts were two goals to the good after 25 minutes thanks to Joe O'Neill (23) and Jody Banim. Trinity got one back in the 45th minute when Luke Beckett found the back of the net and they pulled level four minutes into the second half through Sam Aiston. Connor Jennings had the last say, however, and his last-gasp goal in the 90th minute handed all three points to Celtic. The result leaves Stalybridge in eighth while Gainsborough are 20th, just four points off bottom.

Fellow strugglers Vauxhall Motors moved off the bottom with a narrow 1-0 win over Hyde at the Motassist Arena. Josh Wilson's 76th minute winner proved decisive in a low-scoring affair that sees the 21st-placed Motormen move to within two points of Gainsborough.

Promotion-chasing AFC Telford failed to capitalise on slip-ups from Droylsden and Eastwood, who both lost, as they were thrashed 4-0 at Croft Park to remain in seventh place. Midtable Blyth Spartans went ahead through Ian Graham's 16th minute strike and Paul Brayson made it 2-0 just before the break. Graham got his second and his side's third in the 72nd minute while Brayson completed the rout four minutes later.

At the other end of the table, Hinckley moved into third thanks to a 1-0 win over Ilkeston at New Manor Ground with Daniel Dillon the only man to get his name on the score sheet.
