Saturday's Blue Square North Wrap

Fleetwood Town continued their charge towards promotion by beating Gloucester 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Blue Square North.

Sean Clancy got the ball rolling for the home side with a goal in the 17th minute before a brace from Nick Rogan put the game beyond the visitors in the first half.

Gloucester did grab a consolation strike through Lee Smith from the penalty spot in the 64th minute but it was never going to be enough as the home side held complete dominance over the game.

Second-placed Southport kept their hopes of automatic promotion alive by staying three points behind Fleetwood Town thanks to a 2-0 victory over Farsley Celtic at Throstle Nest.

The Sandgrounders took the lead on the brink of half time through Stephen Daly and then doubled their advantage thanks to a fine strike from Ciaran Kilheeney in the 73rd minute.

Droylsden climbed into the play-off places thanks to a 1-0 victory at Workington and Alfreton Town's stalemate against Northwich.

A second-half goal from Shaun Whalley handed The Bloods all three points, while The Reds had to come from behind to grab a point at the Victoria Stadium, but that was not enough to prevent them from slipping down to sixth.

AFC Telford moved to within three points of the play-off places with a 3-0 thrashing of Redditch United at the New Bucks Head.

At the other end of the table, Harrogate Town's fight for survival was boosted by a 2-0 win over relegation-rivals Gainsborough.

Defender Craig James opened the scoring for the home side in the 20th minute before Ben Muirhead double his side's advantage and sealed the points shortly after the break.

Hyde United gave themselves some breathing space ahead of the relegation zone thanks to a 1-0 win over play-off hopefuls Eastwood Town, while Solihull Moors mirrored The Tigers in their fight against the drop by beating high-flying Corby 3-0 at Damson Park.

A penalty from David McNiven in the 85th minute handed Hyde the points, while The Moors have a brace from Beswick and a Junior English strike to thank for their victory.
