Saturday's Blue Square North Wrap

Blue Square North league leaders Droylsden stole a march on their closest rivals with their 2-1 win over AFC Telford on Saturday.

The chasing pack of Southport, Eastwood and Fleetwood Town all dropped points with only Stalybridge and Hinckley improving on their position at the top of the table.

Droylsden took an early lead in their clash with Telford with Shaun Whalley netting after 18 minutes but had to wait until the 90th minute to claim all three points with Alex Brown netting a late winner after Steve Torpey had scored a 28th minute equaliser.

Droylsden come out of this round of matches two points clear of Southport, who drew their match against Solihull Moors 1-1. Greg Mills put Moors ahead after 12 minutes but the Sandgrounders rallied back in the second half with Kevin Lee securing a 76th minute equaliser.

Eastwood could only manage a 1-1 draw with Corby after Peter Knox scored an 82nd minute goal to cancel out Phil Gulliver's 24th minute opener.

Fleetwood Town secured a solitary point as they drew 2-2 with Gainsborough. The Fleet were 1-0 down via a 47th minute Mark Hudson goal before an Adam Warlow brace on 70 and 78 minutes looked liked securing all three points. But it wasn't to be as James Hunt netted with ten minutes to go to claim a share of the spoils.

Stalybridge had no problems dispatching of Redditch in their Blue Square North encounter with Conner Jennings on target after eight minutes before Joe O'Neill added a second ten minutes before the break with Dave Hankin completing a comprehensive victory with his effort after 88 minutes.

Hinckley moved up to seventh place in the standings after coming from behind to beat Stafford Rangers 3-2. Nick Wellecome had put his side into a 23rd minute lead before Neil Cartwright leveled on 49 minutes. Matt West then scored ten minutes later with Richard Lavery giving his side some breathing space after 72 minutes. Andre Francis pulled a goal back for his side with six minutes to go but it wasn't enough to unsettle United, who held on for all three points.

Elsewhere, Tom Aldred's 81st minute goal was enough to give Workington a 1-0 win over Vauxhall Motors; a Robert Dale brace saw off Alfreton Town as Blyth Spartans won 2-0 and Tom Jackson, Lee Ellington and Gareth Grant all scored in Farsley Celtic's 3-0 victory over Hyde.

The weekend's only 0-0 draw was between Ilkeston Town and Gloucester while Northwich fans were treated to a five-goal thriller as they won 3-2 over Harrogate Town.

Mat Bailey and Mark Danks scored first-half goals before Trevor Benjamin's second-half brace within minutes of the restart got his side back on level terms before Wayne Riley popped up with an 86th minute winner.
