Kettering are champions!

Saturday's Blue Square North Wrap

Kettering Town sealed their place at the top of the Blue Square North table while slumped to a disappointing defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Solihull Moors.

Barrow 2-1 Alfreton Town

Barrow kept their promotion dreams alive with a hard-fought victory over Alfreton Town at Holker Street on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts claimed the lead after 34 minutes thanks to Chris Thompson's well placed penalty kick and Alfreton pulled level just before the half-time whistle through Paul Clayton.

However, the Bluebirds made their home advantage count in the second half as they pushed for the winner and it finally came in the 76th minute when Nick Rogan found the back of the net.

Boston Utd 3-1 Stalybridge

Tommy Taylor's Boston United side dented Stalybridge Celtic's promotion hopes with an assured performance at York Street on Saturday.

The Pilgrims broke the deadlock after 20 minutes through Micky Nuttell and Jonathan Rowan doubled their advantage with a 34th minute finish.

Nuttell popped up again in the 62nd minute to score his second goal and extend Boston's lead to three goals.

Stalybridge striker Steve Torpey netted a consolation goal just three minutes later but it was not enough as the hosts held on for a memorable win.

Burscough 0-2 Redditch

Burscough's chances of clinching a promotion play-off berth look less likely after they slumped to a defeat at the hands of Redditch United.

The Linnets still have games in hand but their chances are slim after this latest result.

Redditch opened their account in the 24th minute thanks to Liam Daly and Liam Murray doubled their lead with a 61st minute finish.

Harrogate Town 1-1 Hinckley Utd

Hinckley were unable to hold onto their early lead at Wetherby Road as Harrogate clawed their way back to earn a share of the spoils.

The Knitters now find themselves in the dreaded drop zone but their supporters will have reason to optimistic as they managed to hold the promotion hopefuls to a draw.

The visitors claimed the an early lead when Adam Webster found the back of the net after five minutes but Harrogate battled their way back into the game and drew level thanks to Danny Holland's 79th minute finish.

Hyde 1-2 Workington

Workington AFC further distanced themselves from the relegation scrap with a morale-boosting win over play-off chasers Hyde United.

The Reds started well and broke the deadlock after 19 minutes through Jonny Wright but Hyde drew level thanks to Matthew Tipton's 35th minute effort.

The visitors came flying out of the starting blocks after the restart and reclaimed the lead through Michael Reed's 46th minute goal.

Kettering 3-0 AFC Telford

Kettering have sewn up the title after recording a convincing win over play-off contenders AFC Telford at Rockingham Road.

The Poppies claimed the lead after 10 minutes thanks to Anthony Robinson and the former Kidderminster Harriers player was on target again in the 25th minute to double his side's lead.

The Bucks were unable to recover from the early double blow and fell further behind in the 86th minute when David Bridges netted Kettering's third goal of the day.

Despite the defeat, Telford are still in the play-off zone and sit on equal points with fourth-placed Harrogate.

Leigh RMI 0-0 Tamworth

Rock-bottom Leigh RMI ground out a goalless draw against Mark Cooper's Tamworth in front of 220 supporters at Hilton Park.

The Railwaymen have struggled for points the entire campaign and are almost mathematically certain to suffer relegation.

The Lambs would have liked to have collected all three points but with nothing left to play for - except honour maybe- a share of the spoils is such a bad result.

Nuneaton 1-1 Blyth Spartans

Blyth Spartans did well to claw their way back from an early deficit to earn a share of the points with play-off chasers Nuneaton Borough.

The Spartans are embroiled in a veritable relegation scrap at this vital stage of the campaign and the point gained at Manor Park is nothing to scoffed at.

Borough claimed the lead after just 14 minutes thanks to Connor Franklin and Blyth drew level in the 62nd minute when Gareth Williams coolly slotted home a penalty kick from the spot.

Solihull Moors 4-1 Southport

Solihull Moors enhanced their chances of survival with a morale-boosting win over play-off chasers Southport at Damson Park.

Southport were unfortunate to go behind after 30 minutes when Matt Hocking put the ball in his own net.

The Moors doubled their advantage in just seven minutes later thanks to Simon Hollis' well placed penalty kick.

The visitors pulled one back on the hour mark through Tony Gray's penalty but Andy Ducros restored his side's two-goal advantage with a 70th minute finish.

Hollis popped up again in the 88th minute to bag his second of the afternoon, thus putting the result beyond the reach of Southport.

Vauxhall Motors 0-3 Hucknall

Hucknall clawed their way out of the dreaded drop zone with a comfortable win over fellow strugglers Vauxhall Motors at Rivacre Road.

Town claimed the lead just before the half-time whistle thanks to Ben Saunders and Bobby Wilson doubled their advantage with a 73rd minute goal.

Peter Knox netted with a 80th minute finish to put the result beyond doubt and help his side clinch a valuable three points.

Worcester 0-1 Gainsborough

Gainsborough Trinity managed to edge out Worcester City in their mid-table clash with a solitary goal at St Georges Lane.

The match ended goalless after 45 minutes with neither of the two sides able to produce an incisive finish.

However, Trinity broke the deadlock after 66 minutes through Liam Needham and managed to hold onto their advantage until the final whistle.
