Play off hopefuls Burscough ran rampant against a rock-bottom Leigh RMI side, who seem destined for relegation.
Craig Noone opened the scoring for the hosts on the 25th minute mark and the floodgates were effectively opened.
Allan Smart added the second after 39 minutes with Alan Moogan adding to the Railwaymen's woes a mere minute later.
The Linnets were unstoppable in front of goals and were rewarded for their efforts - Ciarin Kilheeny added a fourth just before the interval.
The second-half produced less fireworks than the first, but Chris Price added to the hosts tally in the 72nd minute, while Richard Chetcuti managed to bag a consolation goal for the visitors.
Promotion chasing Harrogate Town took a serious knock to their confidence as they lost to third-placed Blythe Spartans at home.
Philip Bell scored the decisive goal for the visitors in the 80th minute after the sides had matched each other blow-for-blow.
Chris Murphy opened the home side's account in the 28th minute, but Gareth Seddon leveled the scores a mere two minutes later.
But a Scott Rikards strike just before the break ensured the high-flying Tigers were once again behind.
The hosts dominated after the break - with Murphy adding a second goal to his personal tally and securing the win for Redditch.
