Tuesday's North and South Wrap

Blue Square North leaders Kettering Town suffered their first away defeat of the season while the match between Workington and Barrow was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

BLUE SQUARE NORTH

Gainsborough 3-1 Kettering

Trinity moved up to 12th place on the Blue Square North table on Tuesday evening with a superb home win over leaders Kettering.

The Poppies went behind just before the break when Lewis McMahon coolly slotted home a penalty kick and Gainsborough went on to double their advantage eight minutes after the break thanks to Ryan Mallon.

Mallon was on target again 10 minutes later to complete his brace and effectively kill off the game as a contest.

Kettering rallied late on but new signing Chris Beardsley's 64th minute goal turned out to be nothing more than a consolation.

Workington v Barrow

Postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

BLUE SQUARE SOUTH

Hayes & Yeading 2-1 St Albans

Garry Haylock's Hayes & Yeading collected all three points at Church Road on Tuesday night with a narrow victory over relegation-threatened St Albans City.

The hosts claimed a two-goal lead in the second half when Will Hendry and Josh Scott netted in the space of two minutes.

The Saints were quick to responded and pulled one back through Lee Clarke in the 61st minute but it was not enough as Hayes & Yeading held on for the win.
