New Year's Day saw plenty of goals in what was another exciting round of Blue Square North fixtures.
AFC Telford started 2008 with a bang as they thrashed Tamworth 4-1 at the New Bucks Head Stadium.
Jon Adams got the ball rolling for the home side when he netted in the second minute. Matty Lewis handed Telford a 2-0 half-time lead when he found the back of the net in the 25th minute.
It was 3-0 on the hour-mark when Lewis grabbed his second of the game. Matthew Williams handed the visitors a glimmer of hope in the 66th minute, but Michael Husbands made sure of the points in the final minute.
Alfreton Town claimed a superb victory over Hucknall Town at North Street on New Year's Day.
Alfreton managed to come out on top of a rather open affair and the three-points will go a long way in boosting their confidence for their promotion push in 2008.
Barrow taught Vauxhall Motors a thing or two on New Year's Day as they ran out comfortable winners.
Nick Rogan opened the scoring in the fourth minute for the host's and Brown made it 2-0 ten minutes later.
Mark Reed pulled the visitors to within a goal in the 28th minute, but second-half strikes from Brown and Matt Henny secured the three-points for the Holker Street side.
Burscough and Southport could not find a winner between them as their New Year's Day encounter ended in a draw.
Ciaran Kilheeny opened the scoring for the Victoria Park outfit in the 13th minute, only for Neil Robinson to equalise nine minutes later.
The second-half turned out to be a dire affair, with both side's lacking the necessary quality in the final-third to grab a winner.
Boston United earned a deserved three-points when they thrashed Gainsborough on their own turf.
Kieran Leabon helped the visitors to a half-time lead when he netted in the 42nd minute.
It was 2-0 to the Pilgrims in the 55th minute when Anthony Crane found the net, but Wes Parker pulled one back for the Northolme side four minutes later.
Crane was again on hand to slot home an 85th minute penalty, a penalty which put the result beyond doubt.
Nothing could separate Hinckley and Nuneaton as the two side's played out a stalemate at the Marston Stadium on New Year's Day.
Both side's had their fair share of opportunities throughout the game, but a mix of poor finishing and solid defending resulted in a scoreless fixture.
Kettering put on a six-star showing as they thrashed Solihull Moors at Rockingham Road on New Year's Day.
First-half goals from Brett Solkhon and Jean-Paul Marna handed the home side a 2-0 lead at the break.
The home side really showed their class in the second-half as Christopher Beardsley (2), Craig West Carr and David Bridges put the hosts 6-0 up.
Darren Middleston did grab a consolation goal, however, but it was nothing more than that as the Town fans left the stadium delighted with their heroes' showing.
Redditch United put in a fabulous performance as they ran out 3-0 winners against Worcester.
Chris Murphy opened the scoring in the 16th minute, and Graham Deakin double the home side's advantage shortly before the break.
Robert Taylor compounded the visitors woes as he added a third in the final minute thanks to a wonderful team move.
Hyde United could not hold onto their first-half lead as they lost out to Stalybridge on New Year's Day.
Gareth Seddon handed the visitors the lead in the 25th minute, a lead which lasted until the 57th minute when Matty Barlow equalised from the spot.
Andrew Smart and Barry Keeling wrapped up the comeback and three-points in the second-half thanks to some superb team play.
Leigh RMI remain rooted to the foot of the table after their New Year's Day defeat to Workington.
Tony Hopper opened the scoring for the home side in the 14th minute, a goal which sent Workington into the break with the lead.
The second-half offered little in the way of attacking movement from either side and Leigh managed to grab a lucky equaliser in the 85th minute when Kieran Lugsden found the net.
A point would have gone a long way in terms of the season for Leigh, but a defensive blunder let in Graham Anthony, who broke the visitors heart.
The fixture between Harrogate Town and Blyth Spartans had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
