Saturday's Blue Square North wrap

Kettering could only manage a draw against a spirited Alfreton Town side in a Saturday afternoon packed with excitement and goals in the Blue Square North.

Barrow 4-0 AFC Telford

Barrow put in an outstanding performance to see off the challenge of AFC Telford.

Nick Rogan and Jason Walker both scored in the 33rd minute to put the home side 2-0 up at the break. Brown and Steve McNulty rounded off the rout in superb style.

Gainsborough 1-1 Worcester

Worcester City thought they had grabbed a well-earned three-points at Gainsborough only for the home side to ruin their hopes late on.

Troy Wood thought he had won the match for his side when he scored a wonderful goal in the 72nd minute thanks to some superb team play. It was not meant to be as Wes Parker struck six minutes from time to earn a point for the home side.

Harrogate Town 3-2 Tamworth

Harrogate and Tamworth played out a five-goal thriller at Wetherby Road on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors grabbed the lead in the second minute thanks to a Nick Wright strike. Mark Hume then grabbed a brace before half-time to hand the home side a 2-1 lead going into the break.

Matthew Williams pulled the sides level on 50 minutes only for Darren Dunning to score what was the winning goal in the 69th minute.

Hinckley Utd 2-1 Workington

Hinckley saw off the challenge of Workington to claim a valuable three-points on Saturday.

The home side went 2-0 up inside 50 minutes thanks to strikes from Owen Story and Callum Lloyd. Matthew Berkeley pulled one back for the visitors on the hour-mark, but it was not going to be enough.

Hucknall 1-4 Hyde

Hyde put in an outstanding performance to beat Hucknall 4-1 at Watnall Road on Saturday.

Dale Johnson, Nathan Wharton and a brace from Chris Simms were the goals which handed the visitors a valuable victory. Ian Robinson scored in stoppage time to save a few blushes.

Kettering 1-1 Alfreton Town

Brain Cusworth was the saviour for visiting Alfreton against Kettering on Saturday afternoon.

Anton Brown had scored an unlucky own goal in the 24th minute before Cusworth popped up to score a valuable equaliser in the 84th minute, thanks to some great team play.

Leigh RMI 1-3 Nuneaton

Nuneaton put in a vintage performance to claim the three-points against a spirited Leigh RMI side at Hilton Park.

Bradley Prichard, Jordan Stepien and Andy Brown were the heroes for Borough in a match which could have seen more goals. Steve Settle grabbed a consolation goal for the home side.

Redditch 3-1 Burscough

Redditch made home ground advantage count with a fantastic 3-1 win over Burscough at the Valley.

Mat McGinn gave the home side a scare, however, when he opened the scoring for the visitors in the 52nd minute. But the home side responded in fine fashion with Carl Heggs grabbing a brace and Danny Spencer rounding off the scoring.

Southport 2-1 Blyth Spartans

A goal in each half handed Southport the three-points against a spirited Blyth Spartans side at Haig Avenue.

Chris Lever and Mark Houghton were the heroes in either half respectively. Peter Snowden did lead a late charge but his goal was never going to be enough.

Stalybridge 3-0 Boston United

Boston United suffered yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold on Saturday.

Alex Meechan, Lee Ellington and Chris Hall grabbed the goals which put the three-points out of reach of a Pilgrims side who seemed out of their depth for much of the match.

Vauxhall Motors 3-2 Solihull Moors

Vauxhall Motors and Solihull Moors played out an exciting five-goal thriller at Rivacre Road on Saturday afternoon.

The 167 fans that did turn up were in for a treat as both side's came out attacking.

Darren Middleton and Peter Faulds handed the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead and, had it been for better finishing, the scoreline could have favoured the visitors even more.

It was all Vauxhall Motors in the second-half, however, as Tom Field and a brace from Paul Taylor handed the hosts the points.
