Aldershot take on Stevenage at the Recreation Ground on Sunday

Shots to end Boro's title hopes

Sunday February 17, 2008

Aldershot Town v Stevenage Borough (19.15, Live on Setanta 1)

Prices correct at time of writing (11am, Thursday February 14, 2008).

Home 5/6 Draw 9/4 Away 14/5

My money is with the leaders Aldershot in this one. The Shots have got a good home record this season - 12 wins at the Recreation Ground. If Gary Waddock's men win this match then realistically Stevenage will have to go for the play-offs to win promotion. Aldershot have only had one draw at home this season, which is why I've decided against the stalemate. The 5/6 on Aldershot is a fair price for a side that is all but assured of at least a play-off place but their fans won't want the end-of-season lottery, they'll want the Blue Square Premier title and with it a place back in the Football League.

I also think the Half-Time/Full-Time market is worth a punt. Boro will be looking to keep things tight early on and I think HT/FT Draw / Aldershot 7/2 looks great value. Aldershot striker John Grant has netted 15 times this season and he's 5/1 to be the first goalscorer and 11/8 to score at anytime. Either of those are worth a shout.

The Score/Win Double market also looks good with John Grant to score and Aldershot to win - a great price at 11/4.

Aldershot are the favourites to win this one but punters can also pick Aldershot Draw No Bet at 4/11, so if the match ends all square, you get your money back.

Verdict: Home win

Best Bet: HT/FT Draw / Aldershot 7/2
