Paul Bastock
Goalkeeper Paul Bastock has snubbed a return to Boston United in favour of staying at Blue Square South side St Albans City.
Bastock returned to Clarence Park for a second spell earlier this season after finally negotiating his release from Rushden & Diamonds.
Despite playing less than half the season for the Blue Square South side, Bastock's performances in helping the Saints avoid relegation saw him end the season as their Player of the Year, the second person in club history to have won the award on more than one occasion.
United boss Tommy Taylor tried twice last season to bring the United legend back to York Street but failed on both occasions and admitted a summer bid would be on the cards.
Despite Taylor's best efforts, Bastock will remain with St Albans with the 'keeper seemingly unsure about returning to the Pilgrims whilst the battle over York Street, owned by his in-laws the Malkinson's, continues.
"Those two clubs made offers while a few other clubs showed an interest," said Bastock after signing a twelve month deal.
"Obviously there is a connection with Boston but my in-laws own the football ground and I didn't want to be in the middle of all that.
"I just want to enjoy my football and that is what I've been doing at St Albans. It was a good way to finish the season and hopefully we can carry that form into the next one."
Bastock also snubbed a move to county rivals Gainsborough Trinity.
