Bluebirds reward award-winning duo

Blue Square North's Manager of the Month duo Darren Sheridan and Dave Bayliss have been granted a 'rolling deal' to remain at Barrow AFC following a fine spell of results in March.

The pair superbly led the Bluebirds through a four-match unbeaten run in the league, which saw the club jump right into the play-off mix.

And after secret talks involving chairman Brian Keen, three board members and the award-winning managers, it was decided Sheridan and Bayliss should stay on that the club indefinitely.

Keen told the Evening Mail: "We were in complete agreement, they pledged themselves wholeheartedly to Barrow and we felt the same towards them.

"They deserved an agreement and it is a rolling deal that we shook hands on.

"There are no timescales, but it was the best meeting and talks the club could have had."

And player/manager Bayliss believes the agreement will benefit the club in the long run.

"We were all agreed in principle, shook hands on it and will be putting pen to paper," he said.

"There was no awkwardness, it was all very constructive and this gives us the chance to build up relationships with the board and club.

"This is the first opportunity in management for me and Darren and we are very happy about the club. The directors have backed us all the way.

"There are bound to be ups and downs, but the players know the standards we have set this season and know they need to maintain them."
