Robinson: Poppies will continue firing

Kettering Town frontman Anthony Robinson has promised the Blue Square Premier club's fans that the players will still give a hundred percent through the remainder of the campaign.

The Poppies wrapped up the Blue Square North title with a massive five games in hand following a 3-0 rout over AFC Telford United on Saturday.

Robinson opened his account in that encounter with a first-half brace and is determined to continue such performances and win a place in manager Mark Cooper's squad.

The hitman told the Evening Telegraph: "It has sunk in now and we are still on a real high.

"But we have to be professional in the remainder of the season as we want to finish it as well as possible.

"I hope the two goals have helped my cause because I certainly didn't want people to think that I can't score at this standard.

"I am very content here and if the gaffer offers me something then I will sign it as soon as possible before he can change his mind.

"I would love to stay. It's a big club but the thing I have enjoyed the most is the passion around the place.

"It was amazing in the bar afterwards and the fans were incredible to us.

"The gaffer has told us to stay professional.

"He is likely to give people the opportunity to impress but from my point of view it's about trying to score as many goals as possible.

"I have to keep playing and working hard.

"I can't afford to take my foot off the gas and I am sure that's how the other boys are thinking.

"I want to win every game whether we are top of the league or bottom.

"If you put the kit on and don't give 100 per cent then you are robbing the people who are paying their money to see you."
