Blue Square North side Southport have decided to part ways with manager Peter Davenport and his assistant Huw Griffiths after Saturday's disappointing defeat.

The Sandgrounders slumped to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of stugglers Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon and the club's chiefs have decided a change in personnel is now necessary.

Former player Gary Brabin has been handed the managerial reins until the end of the season as Southport look to get their promotion charge back on track.

A statement on the club's official website reads as follows: "The club would like to place on record their appreciation for everything they both contributed to Southport Football Club."
