Gainsborough Trinity manager Steve Charles has admitted Hyde United deserved their 3-0 league victory on Monday night.
Charles felt that United were the better team on the night, but maintained that his Trinity charges had enough chances to dominate the game.
"Their opener was a bit lucky in a way" said Charles.
"But that aside, in the full scope of the game they were the ones who made the most of their chances.
"We had ours, but we simply didn't put them away."
The Trinity boss maintains that spirits were high despite the defeat and that his charges' confidence remains intact.
"Chatting to a couple of their lads as well afterwards, they were of the opinion that it was the best they had played in a while, so you can't begrudge them their win, however, much it hurts.
"I think we missed Danny Anson, though. He gives us that little bit extra steel in the midfield."
However, there was still some light at the end of the tunnel for the Holy Blues with the announcement that both Martin Drury and striker Mallon have extended their stay at Northolme.
"It's good to have both of them on board for next season" said Charles.
"Mallon has had some injuries this season, but despite that he has done excellent and netted fifteen goals, which is a great return.
"Drury meanwhile has worked his socks off and played out of his skin this season."
