Pilgrims' financial fiasco continues

According to Boston United chairman David Newton, no compromise could be reached between the Pilgrims and the Inland Revenue.

The Blue Square North club is in administration, owing a huge amount to its football creditors.

The Football League has suggested that it withholds the money it owes Boston and pays the club's debts directly instead.

The Inland Revenue, however, is the York Street outfit's biggest creditor and could request that the club first pay them in full before the non-football creditors.

Newton told Non-League Daily: "We have now received an initial reply from the Inland Revenue, who have unfortunately not responded positively to our proposals.

"We are considering the various issues they have raised in their response, and we are taking the relevant advice with a view to continuing to try to find a solution to this potentially very serious situation."

On the pitch, Boston lost 1-0 to table leaders Kettering Town on Monday but despite the defeat, goalkeeper Chris Wright made an bright start in his third spell at the club.

The former Arsenal trainee answered manager Tommy Taylor`s goalkeeping emergency when Simon Rayner returned to Blue Square Premier high-flyers Torquay United.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper who was released earlier in the season, wants to stake a claim for a place in Taylor's squad next season.

"It was disappointing to be released earlier in the season" said Wright, who was on non-contract terms.

"I am here to help out the club until the end of the season.

"I would like to stay, I think I have got a point to prove and I would love to come back."
