Darren Edmondson
Workington chairman Humphrey Dobie believes that the Blue Sqaure North club's dire performances can be attributed to their 2000-mile New Year travels.
Darren Edmondson's charges have only managed to notch up a mere 34 points in 30 games and have lost seven of their last eight matches.
And Dobie believes the Reds away January fixtures are to blame for their dismal run in form.
Workington made trips to Essex to face Braintree Town in the FA Trophy, AFC Telford United, Nuneaton Borough and Worcester City in January.
Dobie told the club's official website: "The fixtures did us no favours in January. Doing 2,000 miles must have an effect on part-time players with jobs and families.
"We haven't really put it in since and we could do with a win.
"Maybe we just need an ugly one to break the sequence. We had a great run early on in the cups, and it has just gone flat since then."
