Taylor still keen on Bastock

Boston United manager Tommy Taylor has revealed that he is still hoping to bring goalkeeper Paul Bastock back to York Street in the summer.

Having failed in two attempts to sign the York Street legend already this season, Taylor had his hands tied late last month when Bastock was released by Rushden & Diamonds.

With Simon Rayner on loan from Torquay until the end of the season and taking up the budget for a first choice goalkeeper, Taylor was unable to make an approach for the veteran.

Bastock has since signed for St Albans, the club he left to join Rushden & Diamonds, until the end of the season but has talked with Taylor and could well now return in the pre-season months.

"I spoke to Paul earlier this week and he was on his way to sign for St Albans until the end of the season" Taylor told the Sports Echo.

"But he said 'if you want to sign me for next season, then I'm there'.

"When the signing is done then I'll be sure to let everyone know."
